An Urban Fashion Legend Comes To Live: Paganne Is Back

Image
I'm reading: Almost 30 years ago Paganne fashion house closed its doors due to the economic recession, along with many other fashion prominent houses. The brand became a legend, and only the most vintage lovers were tracking it down, gathering piece by piece from various exclusive vintage shops, collectors and fashion galleries, so that they could have a record of once worn by celebrities and fashionistas around the world print fashion brand.  And the blood flow in my body starts to sending me hives - the kind of hives that make your excited about something. I've been waiting for the release of this video for months.

Shoes, Sample Sales And Everything Relative

Image
One of my favorite trends in accessories this season is the bold footwear, and thanks to a very easy access to the best of it - living in New York City and all - through various exclusive fashion events, shopping sites, sample sales and fashion newsletters like Gilt.com, ladies of New York get to have some of fashion’s most daring designers' shoes that marry cutting-edge and wearable design.

The Orange Blues

Image
What is it with the orange color that makes me so happy?  They say, the warm colors, usually, make you feel very cozy and fuzzy inside. I completely agree with it, and there's no need for a psychologist to explain the concept of why certain colors make us feel 'this way', and other colors - 'that way'. We all know that if we are surrounded by blue and white walls, we feel 'clean' and - 'cold'. And if we are in a room painted in orange and/or beige - we feel warm, as you'd feel on a beach with sun bathing your body. That explains, why I always feel 'cold' at a doctor's office, which is usually painted in 'cold colors' and why I feel so in sync at my yoga studio, which walls are painted in orange. I think it's one of the reason I gravitate towards wearing clothes in warm colors, although I do like my violet color outfits. What color makes you cozy?

The Lion Dress: Paganne Makes A Come Back

Image
Last March I've learned that a legendary fashion house that used to be the 'it' to go to in Hollywood and among the most notorious fashionistas around the world - PAGANNE fashion house - is coming back after almost three decades of being 'silent'.   When I learned the history of PAGANNE fashion label, I was mesmerized by how exquisite - and mysterious - and customized the brand, found by Gene Berk, was back in the days. Celebrities wore it. Vogue and Harper's Bazaar featured it over and over again. But not only that, when I started digging in, I found many vintage lovers who up until today have been writing about PAGANNE printed dresses as if they were talking about an 'urban legend'. The fact of the matter is that PAGANNE has taken over the world of fashion back in the 60s and 70s. All the prints that were going into the design of these spectacular immaculate dresses were hand-made and customized and the fabric and the final dress were man...

A Very Casual Workday Outfit, Indeed

Image
At first glance you wouldn't have noticed her, but there's something in the way she put together the whole outfit - despite it's being mismatched, it still has some sort of an 'organization'.  I call it - the 'artistic' chaos, same as my mother always calls the way my apartment looks. My apartment could qualify for a good example for a chaotically artistic mess, which over the years became more artistic than chaotic, but I'm still attracted to the idea of 'chaotic' artistic mess...

An Affair To Remember: Toasting To Love That Lasts

Image
I've been in love with this city for a long time. Of course, there are days, when the city upsets you, but that's like with any relationship - you love 'it' one day, you 'hate' it the next day, but at the end of the day - you know, why this 'relationship' works for you and, most importantly, why you are in this 'relationship'.

My Week In Heels: Why Do Women Love Heels?

Image
Why do women love heels so much? What is it with the women and their heels? Of course, this statement - [and assumption that every women loves and wears heels] - neither applies to every single women, nor it applies to every single town/city. Since I've moved at least 15 times in my life and have visited and lived in more than 20 countries, I could attest that it's not the case. But as far as the New York City goes... it seems to be the case. Well, yes, gentlemen, we do love our heels . Why? There are many answers to it...

A Casual Summer Weekend In New York City

Image
It's been two very hot weeks in New York City. The July heat and humidity have arrived and fallen upon the city. And with the heat in the city, New Yorkers are now feeling a strong need to find any shade in the city - preferably with a nice view - to hide from the sun and/or on the contrary, go to the beach and be closer to the sun.

Manhattan Riviera Beach Soirée Benefiting Fashion For Autism. Part 2: Modalistas Summer 2012

Image
Continuing with the  Manhattan Riviera Beach Soirée Benefiting Fashion For Autism, i n collaboration with  Edwing D'Angelo , ModaListas showed their Summer 2012 collection, which I found both very urban and 'take me down to a horse race' old school glamour event like - big hats, the blouses with puff sleeves and the beige loose pants.  Just before the show, I got a shot of one of the models, wearing a look from the ModaListas Summer 2012collection as she stepped out to say Hi to her mother and take a picture of the beautiful sunset (see below) and herself. The model, as I found out, is Russian.

Manhattan Riviera Beach Soirée: Benefiting Fashion For Autism. Part 1: Edwing D'Angelo Resort 2013

Image
Last Thursday, I was invited to attend a fundraising event for Fashion For Autism organization that is being supported by Edwing D'Angelo , a NewYork based designer, who I first met last February during the Couture Fashion Week Fall 2012.   D'Angelo's Fall 2012 collection was one of the best I saw during the fashion week and I took a note. I covered his collection on my blog , as well as posted a short video on my YouTube . It caught his attention and he wrote to me, thanking personally for covering his show and we became Twitter friends.  Having been exposed to the fashion industry for a while now, I know that it doesn't happen often that a designer him/herself would follow up with the press and bloggers and keep in touch with them, but it's the case here. So, when the next opportunity came, Edwing sent me a personal invitation to attend his fashion show runaway, which he was doing as a fundraiser for Fashion For Autism, and, of course, I could neither s...
