CURIOUSER NEW YORK

Just when you thought that your pigtail(s) looks outdated and you started to feel nostalgic about the times when pigtails were more popular and age-appropriate, the New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 shows brought the pigtails back and offered more than one way to do them.

Every once in a while, you've got to enjoy a night out in NYC from the perspective of your own photo-lens. I remember one line from the cult show "The Sex and The City", which not only makes a great sense for the NYC ladies, but that pretty much explains the 'relationship' the New Yorkers have with the city. It's when Carrie Bradshaw says that she has "a love affair with NYC and it's getting serious"... Isn't it serious for you as well? In the recent New York Magazine article, this 'affair' with the city is deeply explored: from the real experience of growing up in the city (told by the famous people) to what makes the city so 'hated' and 'loved' at the same time.

For those who know me very well, know that I'm a big fan of the accessories, especially the ones with a twist. I also love to wear more than one ring on a finger. I like them big, I like them in a batch. I like them on a pinky finger and I like them on a thumb. And I especially like wearing a bulky (or a few) ring on my index finger. I've been always attracted to the unique ways and looks of clothes, shoes and accessories. One of my favorite things to do is to browse through street jewelry stands in Soho, as well as visiting some  local boutiques and street fairs in other countries when I travel. It's a rare occasion when I do not come back with some new jewelry finds. Last December I brought some very interesting pieces from Germany and Argentina and I'm looking forward to find some more on my next trip to Europe next month. This said, one of my ongoing favorite way to wear the rings is by both bulking them up - two-four at a time - on one finger and 'dre...

One of my new scent choices for the Spring and Summer this year is Chanel "Chance". It proudly joined my scent hall of fame this week. A couple of weeks ago I told you about the upcoming exhibit "Shoe Obsession" at the Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC that offers great fashion-related events every month, and most of which are free and only require a registration online to secure a free spot. I've been looking forward to this event for weeks, and was eager to 'get my hands on' the history of the shoe design and learn the 'concept, idea, and interest' behind the design of the shoes and boots that have been influencing our tastes in the shoe fashion and our choices for the footwear to wear for years. The truth is that no many fashionistas would admit that they have no knowledge in the subject matter they appreciate so much and choose to 'chase' after.

Donna Karan's wedding gown, which looks like it can serve on many other occasions, especially if it's in the creme color. Just the way it hugs the body is just perrrrfect. It's loose where we need it to be loose and tight in all the right places where we can 'afford' it to be tight. It's just absolutely sensual, sexual, feminine and comfortable - all at the same time. Happy Wednesday, everyone. Pass on the love to the other people today, because in the times like this , what we need the most is LOVE!

It must be the Spring, or the fact that there are so many people around me getting hitched, engaged and, some even - married. It must be the Spring, it must! Spring is a wonderful season - when it's the real Spring, and not what the New Yorkers had in March, which felt more like late fall slash winter. But now when it's warmer and people are out and about the city, wearing less clothing and more heels and accessories, the feel of the Spring sun, warmer breeze from Hudson, the scent of the tulips that seem to become a choice of the Spring flowers this season, the tree blossoms of all kinds and longer days inspire to be inspired. This said, I'm being inspired daily, and I'd like to share with you what inspires me today. And it's not about fashion, arts, or fitness, it is more about the people...

I'm back with the monochrome style again.  When last week I've posted a  blog  about the white+black=monochrome style for this season, I mentioned to you that you'll be seeing a whole lot of whites and blacks across many brands. And I was right.  Joe Fresh is another store that I keep talking about it as I find their designs and the quality of their clothes and accessories very high, while, at the same time - very approachable when it comes to the prices.
