Masking It Up: Romanitza (Romania), Couture Fashion Week

This is another collection that caught my attention during the Couture Fashion Week New York. This is the collection from a Romanian designer, Romanitza. I found it rather romantically-sexy and mysterious due to the fact that the models, while wearing rather romantic long gowns, had masks painted on their faces...Very Carnevale di Venezia (Venice Carnival), la la la...

Personally, I'm happy to see that such fashion week event as Couture Fashion Week exists in USA because unlike Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that attracts and features already established designers, Couture Fashion Week introduces the audience to designers from around the world who are more of a "small scale" designers and who are not as well known in USA as they are in their own countries. Having attended Couture Fashion Week two times already, I can attest that there are many talented designers out there, whose name, some day - [and hoping] - will make it through the layers of Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Gucci...

To add a cherry to the cake, this year - [yes, it's not the first time Romanitza participates in the fashion week] - Romanitza [label] celebrating her 20th anniversary this year as a fashion designer. And while in NYC not many people - [if at all] - know her, she is rather popular in her home country, that's why she is taking it up a notch on celebrating her anniversary in a festive way to Bucharest. It is a milestone, ya know...

A former fashion model herself - [Romanitza's full name is Romanita Claudia Iovan] - she launched her fashion house in 1991. The label soon became one of the most successful in Romania, driven by the designer's inimitable style and work ethic helped. She pretty much won the hearts of the many Romanians and other Eastern Europeans with her exquisite quality and regal flair of her designs.

You can see more of her designs here.
