Brad Pitt Designs

An actor, director, humanitarian, husband to Angelina Jolie, and a father to six kids...now you can add add a furniture designer to his resume.

It's about time that Brad Pitt came up with his own pieces of furniture! I don't really understand, why so many people - [and especially the press] - were surprised to learn that Brad Pitt designs himself. It shouldn't be, really, news, because it's been mentioned many times in the last few years that Brad Pitt loves a good design and has been collecting furniture pieces from around the world for a while now. It was just a matter of time since he started to design himself, and probably, he's been already designing for a few years down at his French château.

Pitt has been actively participating in the restoration and rebuilding of New Orleans after the hurricane already, and now...he's also designing furniture in collaboration with frank Pollaro - a New Jersey-based design firm known for their Art Deco reproductions.

Well, obviously, the pieces designed by Pitt are not cheap, but that doesn't stop us from taking a look at them. There are only nine pieces made and they will be unveiled in NYC tomorrow, November 13.

"I've been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright," says Pitt, 48, in a new interview with Architectural Digest. "Actually, I found Wright in college [at the University of Missouri], when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life."

Well, I can definitely see a lot of Art Deco influence.Ok, let's look at a few of those nine designs.

The bed - it's definitely a Super King Size and the functionality of it is rather peculiar. On one hand, I see the user-friendliness of it: it has a very modern look to it, but at the same time, it's rather old-schoolish and looks a bit like an interior of a very expensive private jet, minus the King Size bed...

Now, these two desks: they are very similar to each other, only one is - round, the other one is - rectangular. They're definitely very modern and can serve as a dining table slash an office desk. I can totally see it at a minimalist designer's office. Say, in Stockholm? The round like I'd really like for my own apartment...that is, if I had space for it.

And, of course - the chair...Here I'd be a bit argumentative, because as much as I like the smoothness and roundness of the chair and the modern look of it, this is not something I'd like to sit in as it does not look as a comfortable chair. This is definitely for the decoration purposes only, although, I could picture it in a lobby of a very high tech, modern, innovative agency...

And what do you think about Pitt's furniture pieces? Now, let's hear how the media translates the message to the audience...

Do I hear that you can only buy his furniture at the high-end stores? Duhh, what did you expect, IKEA?

The media is definitely buzzing about Pitt's designs, are you?
