Couture Fashion Week New York: A Preview

Since 2003, Couture Fashion Week has presented a series of couture and luxury fashion shows a few times each year in New York City, Palm Beach, and other cities.I happened to learn about it last February, when I got an invitation to attend it all three days.

 I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out be a quite interesting mix of cultures. The thing is that Couture Fashion Week always happens right the next day after the last show of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and it showcases chosen designers from around the world, who are not as known in USA, as they are in their own countries. This said - I must add - those designers are rather talented. I've watched the last shows and was quite impressed. [See the photos from the last year's Couture Fashion Show New York here.]


This year there were designers from Beirut, Lebanon, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Dubai, India, Brazil, Peru, Morocco, Netherlands, china, Germany and U.K. presented.

Last year I called my New Year blog - my new year resolutions, but aren't we a bit tired of making the resolutions that we don't seem to be able to keep? Asparagus Gratine: The Asparagus Way Into The German's Heart

For Germans the  Spargelzeit , or the white asparagus season, is an eagerly anticipated sign of spring. Depending on the weather, the season for asparagus begins some time in April and lasts until St. John the Baptist’s feast day June 24, and during this time the country is gripped by ‘Asparagus Fever’. From seasonal asparagus dishes to the white asparagus queen award - there's quite a bit of the history that goes back as far as the Greek and Romans... "Asparagus Gratine" seasonal dish at the Knochenhauer restaurant in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony: served with the potato pancake, ham and Hollandaise sauce. Having spent quite some time in Germany during the pick of the season, I've learned a lot about the history and tradition of the white asparagus season.
