Timeless Denim: The Denim I'm Craving For This Season

Image
Just accept it - the denim look will never ever go away . Your parents wore it, you wear it, your kids will wear it and your grandchildren will wear it too - [hence, never throw the denims out, because, guess what? the denim fashion is like a life circle, it goes around and it always comes around.] Jeans/denim is so much a part of our lives that there's no way we'd ever give it up. So, taken that denim is the classic, timeless trend - [just as Chanel will always be] - here's a few of my favorites among the new denims for the Spring, Summer and Fall/2013.

Diesel: I Like Them Black And Gold

Image
Just want to say Hi. Hiiiiiii! I’ve been so consumed by my Graphic Design classes that I've been lately very non-fashionably ignorant. But hope to be back very soon! Strangely enough - [and very unlike me] - this winter I've realized that I can live on one pair of jeans, one pair of leather stretched pants, knee high boots and two long bulky sweaters. I've been practically living in them, having no regret whatsoever to change into anything else except for a few special occasions - the New Year Eve in Buenos Aires and my birthday on January 15th and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (February 8-14, 2013) . The rest of the time, I've been like a hermit, running around New York City, dressed in head-to-toe black, pretty much unnoticeable by the society, hiding at night in warm sweats and thermal socks at home or at the book stores, wearing my UGG s. My UGGs keep on giving...

Denim On Denim Is Dandy

Image
I like this quote about the denim-on-denim look:  Denim on denim is dandy; but denim on denim on denim may very well be too much of a good thing.  Yes, I know what you imagine when someone tells you: denim-on-denim... You imagine the 80s - the all jean look blended-in. You imagine the 'crime' makers and the Life & Style's 'worst dressed lists'. You imagine the stonewashed jeans on jeans look, just as you imagine the pleaded shirts with the loafers, although, as separate garments, and if well combined with the right accessories and footwear - it could be quite dandy.

A Grupee Effect: What's Your Attitude?

Yes, I'm now officially - a Grupee!

A Color Jean Group: Any Time, Any Age

Image
Perhaps it's just in time to say congratulations on another successful Pride Parade! It's been especially colorful in the city with all the rainbow colors and stylish gay singles and couples taking the streets to celebrate and be proud. When I spotted this group of girlfriends, I realized that jeans are no longer only limited to black and blue colors. There's, probably, not a single person in this time and age that does not have a pair of colorful jeans. There are some good colors available in jeans in many stores, like Zara, H&M, J Brand, Levi's, Uniqlo...What's more is that colors are not only for teenagers anymore. I love seeing older women and men wear colors. Perhaps it's the "European" talking in me. I just love how, for example, Italians are dressing - they are, definitely, not afraid of the colors.

A Dark Jean Shirt

Image
As you know by now, I'm obsessed with my jean shirt . I wear it all the time and with everything.  I find it very versatile and workable for many occasions  - under a blazer with black pants, it looks formal enough but with a casual chick twist. Over jeans with sneakers and a motorcycle leather jacket - it looks both very casual and very America Levi's 80s. Over a short summer dress, it looks also chick and stylish and ... comfortable and warm. A jean shirt is also great for covering any flaws and making an outfit look doable on all occasions.  OKEY, let's just say - I'm obsessed with a jean shirt. The one I got a year ago at Uniqlo , the light wash, has already traveled internationally with me. It has its own passport now, hah! But recently, it's got itself a competition - in the form of a dark wash jean shirt from the same store, Uniqlo.

Love Affair With A Jean Shirt

Is there a way to tell a story of a jean shirt?

The Simple Basics: Always In Style

Image
The simple basics will always be in style. Despite the fact that in this season the color is dominating everything - from shoes to accessories, the simple basics are still very common, especially when one wants to feel 'safer' and/or to match the unmatchable.  It's a fact that the neutral simple colors of black and beige match absolutely everything and if one's clothing is rather colorful, in order to not look like a parrot, it makes sense to wear neutral colors on the feet to off balance the overall colors. Personally, even though I did colorfy my wardrobe for this season, I'm still going to keep wearing my basics - the black and beige flats, just as these girls are doing it with the jeans and black pants, because there are always situations when nothing else really goes with anything except for the simple basics...

Casual Fridays In A Big City

Image
... and it slowly turns into an evening gown . I wish we could all say that about our Friday outfits at work! Fridays in America are usually the casual days sans the sneakers and sweats, of course. On Fridays the office workers are usually allowed to wear jeans and casual shirts, just as long as it's still within the 'office attire rules' acceptance. But here is a thing, while most of us - especially the people who work in the corporate America - long for Fridays to wear the casuals, it's a double-end sword, because usually on Fridays one goes out right after work.  So, how can you stay casual and dressed up enough to hit all those fabulous lounges, parties, events?
