Miami Beach Vibe: Beach Cruising

Image
Beach cruising in style? Leave your heels in the city when you come to Miami Beach and choose to ride your beach bicycle in flip-flops (see below my favorites) and/or keds. At least that's what the locals do. Beach cruisers are these bicycles you usually rent at a hotel on a beach. I always get mine at the Shore Club, where we've been staying for the past 4 years. They can cycle in the sand, but I'd prefer to take it along the boardwalk from Miami Beach all the way to the end of the South Beach and do it so that when I reach the other end of the waterfront, I can enjoy a sunset. The sunsets on that end of the waterfront are amazing, and so is the ride! Ride on and check some of my other bicycling videos here . These are the flip flops I'm loving this season: Slim Paisage Flip-Flop from Victoria Secret Bruce Top

Miami Beach Vibes: A day in the life of Miami Beach visit

Image
Your fashion style definitely changes when you transport yourself from the urban NYC to the beachy Miami and New Yorkers love it. It's a perfect getaway for the New Yorkers, just a 2.5-hour flight away! And we love it when we can finally get rid of the jeans, sweaters and boots and change into our beach gear that we carefully plan for a year in advance. Kicking off summer with the Memorial Day weekend getaway to Miami Beach is a thing to do for the New Yorkers...and would you blame them?

Charles James: "Beyond Fashion"

Image
Last Friday, May 8 / 2014,  The Metropolitan Museum of Art  in New York City opened a new fashion exhibition -  Charles James : Beyond Fashion .   This inaugural exhibition of the newly renovated Costume Institute examines the career of the legendary twentieth-century Anglo-American couturier Charles James (1906–1978). The exhibition explores James's design process, focusing on his use of sculptural, scientific, and mathematical approaches to construct revolutionary ball gowns and innovative tailoring that continue to influence designers today.

The Monochrome Style: The White, The Black & The Mix

Image
Trend alert! While the colors will still prevail this season, be prepared to go monochrome! They say that once you start wearing color, it's rather difficult to go back to the whites and blacks. However, the white and black colors - and the combination of the two - have gotten quite an exposure on the runaways around the world this season. And it doesn't only involve the clothing - you will also see it in accessories, shoes, and nail polish.

Top 10 Anna Wintour Quotes on Fashion and Style

Who doesn't know Anna Wintour? Or, let me rephrase it - who in any of the industries that have at least something to do with the fashion world does not know Anna Wintour?

24 Shoes, 24 Places: And much more from Museum at FIT

Image
Shoe Obsession exhibition and tour at Museum at FIT: F ebruary 8 through April 13, 2013. I keep telling you guys that if you live in New York - an ultimate city that offers everything for every interest: from great chefs and artists to fashion designers and financial moguls, you can never be bored. No one can possibly be ever bored in New York City - one of the reasons thousands of people come to the city every year to live, work and - most of the time, stay! This is why the rents are high, the restaurants - even with the thousands of them available - have waiting lists, the subway is over-crowded, and the museums charge entrance fees. [Unlike, say, most of the museums in Washington, DC that are free to the public!] So, you have no excuse saying that you are bored in the city and claim that you've seen and done it all, because it's absolutely impossible. Here's just a tiny portion of how you can acquint yourself with fashion, design and art, while meeting be...

NY Fashion Week: The Vision of Russian fashion designers For Fall 2013

Image
While the NY Fashion Week, that took place last September, feels like yesterday, the winter time brings us a rather different twist to the fashion. What do you say, when the snow storm comes to town , forcing many fabulous and fashion-friendly places in the city to close up for the after-hours?  You put on a strong face, add an extra layer, put on your snow-proof high heel boots and try to get a taxi way before the snow-escape-seekers would do. You arrive to a runaway show in grace and with a bit of snow wetness on the sleeves of your fabulous coat and with a natural mascara smudge - the effect that usually takes you longer to achieve during a normal day routine.  For more tips on how to stay fabulous during the NY Fashion Week, Fall 2013 and why you should take a note on the Russian fashion designers, read here:   NY Fashion Week: The Russians are coming!   Is the black back? How about a hit of red and white? Here's what the Russian fashion designers in...

My Mini Update For February 2013

You might have been surprised that I haven't been updating my blog as often as I did, say, a month ago? And this is why!

Timeless Ralph Lauren: The Winter White Classics

Image
Just before I left New York City to celebrate Christmas in Germany, I took my annual "Christmas Walk" on Madison and Fifth Avenues to see the Christmas window displays and building decorations. This is something of a habit of mine - I do it every year.  One of the most impressive window displays on Madison Ave. was Ralph Lauren boutique stores for adults and kids, located on Madison Ave. and 71st Street.

Bergdorf Goodman Keeps On Christmas Giving And Intriguing

Image
Since I remember myself living in New York City - [I moved to NYC for the first time back in 2001] - I've been going to see Bergdorf Goodman Christmas window display every December, and not once they've disappointed me.

Being Stylish All The Way: Fashion Week S/S 2013 Invitations

Image
I could have just said "Like father, like son" if it came to define the similarities in the human relations between the immediate relatives, but in this case, it's more like "Like fashion designer, like fashion show invitation" and I would not be far from remaking the saying to reflect what you are about to see.

Pulling A Brave Act: Exceptional Extravagance

Image
I took this picture at the Designers & Books Fair 2012 last month. It was a two-day event, during which the visitors could meet top designers, fashion/design magazine editors and book publishers up close and personal. [I love the F.I.T. events and try not to miss it, if I can!] These two ladies were hanging out in the book fair pavilion. I still don't know if they were the presenters - designers, writers, etc . - or the visitors. Either way, they've caught my attention, and, most likely, I wasn't the only one who has noticed them.

A Shaded View on Fashion Film

Image
I really wished I was in Paris  last week, and not because for all the reasons I love this city - including the Parisian fashion . The world’s first annual film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty that continues to shake up the old rules of fashion by shifting the focus from still photography to moving image - the fifth edition of A Shaded View on Fashion Film - took place is at Centre Pompidou in Paris, one of my favorite exhibit halls in the city! Timeless Anna Karenina: Love, Disgrace & Fashion of 19th-century Russia

Image
What is it about Anna Karenina that gives it special status among the great novels? There's not a single novel in the world that hasn't been made into a movie as much and often as this Russian classics by Leo Tolstoy.  How is it that a sensational romantic tragedy of tsarist high society that talks about a relatively common situation - love, passion, disgrace, extramarital affair, and etc. described so artfully in a 900-page book, still provokes both excitement and respect from readers from around the world? Could any of the film directors and/or screenwriters ever do full justice to Leo Tolstoy's great novel?
