Attention, New York ladies...

Image
NYC hasn't been known to be very family friendly EVER. It's the city for young, ambitious, single people from around the world to come to pursue a career and enjoy the many entertainment perks of the city. However, in the last few years, the city has been warming up to the idea that not everyone wants to move to New Jersey or Connecticut to have a family. So, the city has been trying to accommodate those New Yorkers who do NOT want to leave Manhattan, who still want to enjoy the city but be able to have a family too. One of such neighborhoods is - the Battery Park City where we now reside. One morning I decided to check it out from a perspective of a feature parent-to-be...

Ready for the American Cup 2016?

Image
The American Cup 2016 preparations are taking over the downtown of Manhattan right now! This weekend, the famous sailing race is coming to Hudson River and will take in Battery Park City May 7-8th. Don’t miss it. I was there yesterday to witness all the preparations and the excitement was already in the air! People were stopping by to take pictures and videos. You’ll see one french group that got especially excited about seeing one particular yacht on a billboard picture and wanted to take picture of it (I’m assuming it was a yacht of some French sailing team...)  Anyway, mark your calendars and I’ll see you there!

Yep, neither did I until I went to the TFI interactive event - an all day one day event during the first week of the festival that showcase the latest technologies in the filmmaking like virtual reality, holograms, 3D and etc. This year they brought robots and more virtual reality! Even Katie Holmes stopped by to check it out.

What about them books?

Image
Have you noticed the book stores have been closing recently around America? In New York City alone just recently closed two oldest book stores that used to be so beloved in their neighborhoods and among the new yorkers. Why is that, you think? Do you think digital media would eventually replace print? Promising The Good Times: Discovering The City's Best

Image
Going back to fulfilling my promise to you to tell you about some of my great finds in the city: the new places that not only I discover, but that I actually put on my favorite list of the places to revisit again and... again . The city dwellers even have favorite cross-streets in the city, where we know we can get a good shot of something we love so much about our hometown (Photo: 47th Street and Lexington Ave.) You know how it feels when you move to a new place and you don't know the city well enough yet to find a place that would satisfy all your cravings at once, while the local residents do know? You feel frustrated at first for not being able to spend your free time at a quality place vs. a place that's just there ... - the first thing you'd find?
